Scientific Support Services

Many of the research resources at WMU are available to SMIC clients, including:

-BSL-1, BSL-2, and BSL-3 laboratories equipped to handle radioactive material
-Animal facility maintained under AAALAC standards
-Imaging Center offering comprehensive expertise for basic research and light microscopy equipment
-Culture facilities for mammalian tissues and cells and bacterial cells
-Greenhouse facilities and environmental chambers
-High performance liquid chromatography (HPLC) for protein purification and other applications
-Cellular electrophysiology capabilities, including conventional microelectrode and patch clam methods
-Spectroscopic assay capabilities for UV, visible, and fluorescence assays
-DNA sequencing capabilities
-Major instrumentation for research in chemistry (NMRs and Mass Specs)
-Noise and reverberation laboratory
-Wind tunnel for research in aviation and wind loading on structures
-High performance and large-scale computing facilities
